Dyson DC07 Low Reach Upright Vacuum
A piece of engineering wizardry created by James Dyson, inventor of the cyclonic vacuum, the 12-amp Dyson DC07 upright with floor tool combines unparalleled power with structural advances. At the center of the machine's innovation is the Cyclone air path design, an eight-section chamber that creates powerful, consistent suction. The conical chambers generate 100,000 g of centrifugal force, pushing dust and dirt out of the airflow into the vacuum's 1-gallon collection cup. With no bag to clog, the vacuum's 270 air watts of suction remain steady. The large, transparent collection cup is easy to check and empties tidily--pop it off, hold it over a trash bin, and pull the trigger to release dirt without having to touch it. The DC07 also comes equipped with a multipart filtration system to improve overall air quality in the home. The HEPA filter, measuring 412 square inches in surface area, traps microscopic particulates and allergens. Expertly built, the filter is designed to last the lifetime of the machine.
Suitable for bare floors and carpets, the Dyson upright features a 14-inch cleaning path and edge-cleaning bristles. A simple foot pedal switches off the brush roll for bare floors, and the nozzle automatically adjusts for changes in carpet height. The floor tool featured on this model makes for straightforward nozzle vacuuming where you usually struggle with a hose. Its ultralow profile needs only 3-1/2 inches of clearance, so it reaches easily under sofas, beds, and low chairs. For above-floor cleaning, the vacuum comes with a cleverly stowed, 17-foot quick-release hose. The hose's handle reverses to an extension wand, and onboard accessories include a crevice tool, a dusting brush, and an upholstery attachment. Made from the same material used in crash helmets, the vacuum is unquestionably durable. Plus, the design only puts 4 pounds of weight on the handle, so pushing and turning is easy. This model comes with a 35-foot power cord and a limited two-year household warranty. --Emily Bedard
From the Manufacturer
DC07 HEPA + floor tool has all of the features of a DC07 steel / yellow plus a Dyson-engineered floor tool that cleans easily under sofas and beds and adjusts for bare floors and carpets.
The most powerful upright
Dyson scientists developed the Root8Cyclone to give higher suction power and pick up more dust. The Root8Cyclone is the first vacuum cleaner that doesn't lose suction.
The only quick-draw hose
Just press the catch and the 17ft hose is ready to use: no awkward parts to assemble; reaches to the top of the stairs; cleans under low furniture; doesn't pull the machine over.
Hygienic and quick to empty
You don't have to touch the dust, just pull the trigger, and the dust falls out into the trash.
No extra costs with lifetime clog-free filters
There are no bags to buy and the filters are so efficient they last for the lifetime of the machine.
Protects rugs and delicate floors
The brush control system protects rug fringes and the drive belt. The foot operated control easily turns the brush off when cleaning delicate rugs and hard floors.Approved for allergy sufferers
The HEPA filter has a surface area of 416 square inches and is designed to retain the highest levels of microscopic dust particles and allergens.
Automatic carpet height adjustment
The Dyson adjusts automatically to different carpet heights, so there are no awkward dials to adjust.
Light and easy to maneuver
The motor and wheel geometry balances the machine so the weight on the handle is only 4lbs. So it is easy on your wrist and light to steer around furniture.
Edge cleaning whiskers
DCO7's suction is channeled up to the edges of the cleaner head. The whiskers are angled out to reach down between the baseboard and the floor, flicking dust directly into the airflow.
Reversible wand
Reverse the wand and hold the handle to give you a firm grip when reaching into awkward corners.
High velocity airflow tools
Conventional tools can stick to carpets or curtains. This stops them from cleaning effectively and can make them hard work to use. The channels on the DCO7 tools direct the air down into the carpet pile. This has two main advantages: You pick up more because the directional force of the air agitates and dislodges dust; The airflow is continuous even when vacuuming curtains or upholstery, preventing them from becoming stuck to the tools.
Clear bin
The dust bin is clear so you can see how well the Dyson works, you can always tell when it's full, you can retrieve lost objects, and it's easy to empty.
2-year limited household warranty
All of the components of DCO7 have been extensively tested for durability and reliability in Dyson's in-house testing facility. Dyson vacuum cleaners are warranted for a period of two years from date of purchase.
Tough construction
Made from the strongest materials, used in the manufacture of crash helmets, cars and pipelines.
12-amp motor
Weighs 19.2 pounds
1-gallon bin capacity
35-foot cord
Feeling let down by your vacuum?
"I was so frustrated with my vacuum cleaner - the bag quickly clogged with dust, destroying the suction. I set about developing an entirely new type of vacuum cleaner to solve this problem.
More than 5,000 prototypes later I was at last able to launch the patented Dyson Cyclone, the first vacuum cleaner that doesn't lose suction.
The Root8Cyclone is the latest Dyson vacuum - it has the highest suction power and picks up more dirt from your home."--James Dyson
What Makes Dyson Different
Bags clog suction
How airflow is restricted
When the vacuum cleaner is empty, clean air flows into the machine and out through the pores of the bag.
However as soon as you start to use the machine the bag starts to fill with dust and debris. The bag acts as a filter and the machine starts to lose suction.
This is because the pores of the bag begin to clog with the dust that the machine has picked up. This restricts the airflow which causes loss of suction power.

Amazing! / Report June 26, 2006
You really don't know how poor of a job your current vacuum is doing until you go over the exact same areas with the Dyson DC07. It doesnt matter if its hardwood floors, or plush carpet, it is amazing what thiis vacuum can do. I am even surprised that it is quieter than most conventional vacuums. *Not really quiet, but the sound is different and not anywhere near as annoying.
$$$ but, you get what you pay for.
Dyson Vacuum-AWESOME SWEEPER / Report June 26, 2006
The Dyson is worth every penny that it cost. It has the most suction of any vacuum I have ever had. Although the controls are not labeled on the vacuum, the book is very descriptive and detailed. Once you learn what every thing is for, it is easy to operate. The tools are very easy to store, and it is very easy to use to clean steps. I was truly amazed at how dirty my house was and how much my old sweeper was missing.
NOT AS GOOD AS I THOUGHT... / Report June 11, 2006
I am a clean freak. I pretty much vacuum 2x/week. I've had this vacuum for a little over a year. When our last vacuum (Hoover Windtunnel) was on it's last leg, which lasted us about 4 years, I figured I would spend a little extra and get the Dyson. I hear so much about it and how great its suction power. Not to mention that I don't have to buy anymore bags and it's great for people with allergies. My oldest son has asthma, so I was sold on it.
Like I said, I've had this for over a year. When we first got it, it cleaned so well. You could actually feel how clean our carpet is, and it cleans tile floors just as well with the attachment. I was so happy and thought that it was so worth it. But now that I've had it for 14 months, it doesn't seem to have a powerful suction anymore. I figured for something that costs this much, it should last me at least 4 years like my Hoover did, if not longer. I don't know if I am just hard on vacuums or what since I do vacuum a lot, but isn't that what they are made for?
However, to be fair, I do love all the attachments it comes with. I can safely clean my leather sofa, and chairs with it. And the attachment for the stairs is wonderful--it really does the job. I just wish that the suction power is still as good as it was when I first got it. Dyson does claim that it's the only vacuum that doesn't lose it suction. And yes, I do clean the filter often and empty the bag before it's even full.
Money Well Spent / Report May 28, 2006
I was looking online for a new vacuum and was going back and forth between Hoover and Eureka. Both models were in the $250 range and had several complaints on belts breaking and losing suction. I looked at the Dyson and read all of the good feedback and decided to take a chance and spend the extra money. Well, I'm glad I did.
It's easy to assemble and super quiet. Has an extra long cord which is awesome and a long hose with attachments that come in handy when trying to do stairs--no need to bring the vacuum with you--it stays at the bottom while you move upstairs. The suction is better than anything I used and it's very easy to empty the dust bin. This is a fine product! I just love it!!
Must constantly reassemble unit to do everyday vacuuming chores! / Report May 26, 2006
Bought this vacuum for everyday household chores. Vacuum can NOT get even 2 inches under a sofa or living room chair without lengthy re-assembly. Parts do NOT seem made to withstand the constant reconfiguration that is necessary to clean your basic room. Especially the hose and the way the wand attaches to the main body. I have arthritis and it is EXTREMELY difficult for me to do this and I can't afford the return charges so I must keep it. Now my job will be more difficult and not easier. In 50 years of buying vacuum cleaners I have never seen even ONE that would not get under at least the first 2 inches of a piece of living room furniture. This purchase was a HUGE MISTAKE at least for myself. It matters not that the machine has good suction, because for what I need it for, it truly sucks!
